Like Raspberry Fairy, Moth Hawking just seemed to flow from my brush. All I knew before I started was that I wanted to experiment with browns and blues. I learned that taking one of the browns out to a rust orange could really get the blues to pop; and that the same could be said for taking a brown the opposite way, towards an olive. It was fun to play with brighter versions of the colors I usually depend on for my neutrals.

Some of my paintings arrive at the end of a long process involving much thought, many sketches, and more than a few false starts. Others seem to fall into place - as if I were revealing a painting that was already there. This is one of those. She fell out of my brush one spring afternoon.
Is there any other difference between the two kinds of paintings? No, not really. Each method seems as likely to produce a good painting or a bit of trash.
But I admit the second method is a lot easier on me.
The Genie and Her Bottle
Watercolor

Honestly, this one reminds me of my younger cat, who can also be very possessive and likes to look at you out of the corner of her golden eyes.
Spoon Rhymes With Moon and June
Watercolor
2.5" x 3.5"
Original: $85.00
This, along with Don't Pick Up What You Can't Put Down and Poppies and Peridots is one of my calendar girls. Each features the birthstone and birth flower for that month - in this case roses and pearls.
And of course, I was thinking of the popular song, when I added two spoons:
By the light, of the silvery moon,
I want to spoon,
To my honey I'll croon love's tune.
Honey moon, keep a-shinin' in June.
Your silv'ry beams will bring love's dreams,
We'll be cuddlin' soon,
By the silvery moon.
—By the Light of the Silvery Moon
